Your local n8n runs on localhost, so webhooks from the outside can't reach it. In this video I fix that with a tunnel, using Cloudflare Tunnels and ngrok, both running against a local n8n in Docker.

Tunnels are for testing external endpoints. Don't run production this way. For production, use n8n Cloud or self-host on a VPS with a real domain.

The one setting to remember

Set N8N_WEBHOOK_URL to your public address and restart n8n, so it hands out the correct webhook URLs. N8N_WEBHOOK_URL replaces the older WEBHOOK_URL, which is deprecated from n8n 2.35.

Tools used
n8n in Docker, Cloudflare Tunnel (cloudflared), ngrok
