AI Coding tools like Lovable and Bolt can't read your mind.
Here's my 4 step prompt framework for getting great results every time…
The Problem: Most people write prompts like "I want to add progress tracking to my app" and wonder why the AI doesn't build exactly what they envisioned.
My 4-Part Framework for AI Coding Prompts:
1. Give Context – Tell the tool what feature you want to add and why ("I want to add a feature to help users track their workout progress")
2. Outline the User Journey – Walk through exactly how someone will use this feature step-by-step ("User clicks start workout, selects exercises, timer runs, progress saves automatically")
3. Specify Technology – Mention any specific APIs or services ("I want to use ElevenLabs to convert text to voice for workout cues")
4. Add Design Direction – Include visual and interaction details ("Use the same color as the buttons for the progress bar, keep the UI minimal and match the dashboard layout")
This transforms vague requests into detailed blueprints the AI can actually work with. The difference in output quality is honestly night and day.
Focus on one task or feature at a time – don't try to build your entire app in one prompt.
And if you have an idea for an app you want to build with AI or are already building, I've got a community helping people do just that over at skool.com/aiapps/about
